Trays vs. Pods vs. Sheets
Here's the rundown of the differences between AVA add-ons:
Plant Pods
- Each AVA Byte comes with 1 FREE set of 5 plant pods.
- At the end of the campaign:
- Backers from the U.S./Canada will choose between a variety of pre-seeded pods or blank pods to grow their own seeds.
- Backers NOT from the U.S./Canada will get blank pods to grow their own seeds.

Shipping to the U.S./Canada: you'll automatically receive a free Mushroom “Block” (equivalent to 5 pods) when you purchase the $25 U.S./Canada version of the Mushroom Tray perk - released when we hit $110k. You'll be able to purchase additional Blocks at the end of the campaign.

NOT shipping to the U.S./Canada: you should buy the $19 Int'l / DIY version of the Mushroom Tray, which comes without a Mushroom Block (AVA cannot ship mushroom spawn outside of the U.S./Canada).

What’s growing on?
We’re so excited to share our first major update on AVA Byte’s manufacturing! As the campaign continues, we’ll update you on a regular basis and share as much information as we can about our progress, fulfilling our effort to be fully transparent.
For those of you who just want to know if we’re on track: we are! And we’re on schedule to start shipping AVA Byte by March 2018.
For those of you interested in all the nitty gritty details, keep reading!
Every campaign’s manufacturing plan has key milestones and a timeline. Hitting these milestones translate to staying on schedule. Here are the most important ones:
- Nov. 2017: in-house certification tests with pre-production units
- Dec. 2017: injection molding and tooling finalized
- Jan. 2018: CE/FCC certifications with final production units
